Here's a look at the end of our summer and start of the school year:
First on their list was a cupcake bake-off. Ava's were the best looking, Mia had the best flavor combinations and Eliana had the best names for her confections.
Sometimes, there's a win for everyone.
They had so much fun with classmates at our PTA Spirit Night
They convinced me to sleep with them on the living room floor. Nothing reminds you of your age quite like that, but they're worth it.
They spent a considerable amount of time helping me with PTA projects
When they tired of PTAing, their amazing P.E. teacher let them create obstacle courses.
A trip to Chuck E. Cheese was also on their end-of-summer wish list. We had a fun afternoon and they certainly deserved it after logging so many hours helping me.
There was plenty of back-to-school shopping, too.
We visited Mia and Ava's classroom for a sneak peek and loved finding messages on their desks.
The night before their first day, they get to pick whatever they want to eat. Shrimp cocktail topped each of their lists.
In keeping with night-before-school traditions, it was time to watch a movie from my childhood. Since it's just us girls, The Babysitter's Club seemed like a great choice. Our list now includes: Homeward Bound, Free Willy, Mighy Ducks and the Babysitter's Club.
All three girls were up early and eager for their first day of school. I love that they each want to be an author when they grow up. While that may change, I've certainly learned the importance of teaching them to be the author's of their own story.
While maintaining old traditions seemed important, it's also time for some new ones like back to school cake with the number of candles corresponding to their grade level.
They were totally onboard with this idea!
We wrapped up the first week back by going to dinner and the playground with friends.
I have no idea what this year will bring, but we've got this (and when we don't, because sometimes we won't, we've got a village).
